tga files put into a patch hak, which allows you to use a custom patch file and individual haks for overrides instead of just dumping all the files into the override folder (which makes it easier to distinguish and toggle on or off different overrides). With regards to mods, I've noticed that you can now have up to 255 different heads displayed per race during character creation, which was not possible in Diamond (you already had 255 slots for heads but not all would show up during character creation). And there is a keyhole effect that allows you to always see your character, even when it would usually be obscured by walls or objects, but it's not perfect, plus many players dislike the look of it and toggle it off. by default the colors are set to be a little more vibrant compared to the rather washed out colors in Diamond. There are a couple of graphical effects you can toggle off or on in the EE's options menu, and e.g. All videos now play in fullscreen (they didn't always for me with the Diamond edition on modern OS, but your experience might be different), but they don't fill the whole screen, in higher resolutions they are tiny and there are big black borders around them on all sides. In single player mode, I haven't noticed that much difference between Diamond and the EE (playing on 1680*1050). You can download a community patch to remove these effects Beamdog themselves don't seem to have done anything about it, at least it still happened to me recently. For example, on some rigs, the glitter effects on pixies and faerie dragons can cause the whole game to lag terribly. The EE introduced quite a few new bugs and performance issues.
